My Journey

My parents divorced soon after I was born. My mom and I lived with my Grandma and Grandpa and my dad remarried shortly after. He and my stepmom Stephanie had two boys Shane and Blake. I went to my dad’s house every weekend and had a great relationship with my dad, Stephanie and Shane and Blake. My mom remarried when I was six to my Step dad Brent. Brent had four kids, three daughters that were all teenagers and a son who was just two years older than me and then he and my mom had my little sister.
As I was growing up I slowly gained weight and my freshman year of high school I joined weight watchers. I weighed around 181 pounds I thought I was huge! I lost 50lbs getting down to 131. I then got a job, started working on my associates degree and became a social butterfly. I started to gain a little bit of weight back but kept most of it off until I graduated.
I graduated high school with my associate’s degree and went on to get my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. I met my husband when I was 19 through a mutual friend. We dated for three years and then were engaged for a year and then got married. At this point I was very much in the honeymoon phase and had gained a pretty good amount of weight.
I did the HCG diet and lost a lot of weight but quickly gained it all back. I then tried Take Shape for Life with Medifast foods. I lost about 40lbs and got myself back down to about 209lbs. It was expensive and not the greatest tasting food, I used it for about a year before I stopped using the food and gained everything I had lost back plus more.
We lived in my grandma’s basement the first two and a half years we were married to save up money and help out my grandma. I finished school the semester after we were married and Aaron started the police academy the following year. Aaron was working at a tire store and I was working at a credit union.
In May of 2013 we thought it would be a great time to start trying to have a baby, I had been on birth control for years for my acne so as soon as I stopped taking it my hormones went crazy. I would go 50+ days without having a period so we just figured my body needed some time to figure out its new normal. We then decided it was time to buy a house so in November of 2013 we started looking into houses, found the one for us and signed on the dotted line and got our keys January 1st
On December 15th my mom text me and told me to pull up ksl.com so I did and up pops an article about a car crash that killed a man, the driver of the car that ran the red light and killed the man being my dad. My dad was in jail and I had no idea what was going on.
Between trying to have a baby, buying a house and having my dad in jail my weight sky rocketed. I am an emotional eater and food was the only thing that made me feel better. I did a couple rounds of clomid to get pregnant but nothing came of it, I finally decided I had to start doing something to improve my health. I started going to crossfit in May of 2014. I felt myself getting stronger but didn’t change my eating habits so I wasn’t losing any weight.  My crossfit trainer was starting her own program called the phoenix program to help people lose weight. She had a special workout and based on our weight and measurements she gave us the amount of calories, fat, protein and carbs that we should have daily. Our first month was October and I did good, lost ten pounds and a lot of inches. November came around and I had the hardest time….I wasn’t motivated and I was sad and angry with the world. I wanted to spend my days in my bed by myself. I didn’t lose any more weight the whole month of November and didn’t drag myself out of bed to go to crossfit for almost two weeks. Its December and its time that I focus on and better myself, I’m hoping that having this blog will help me stay motivated to continue my journey so that I can lose this weight and eventually be healthy enough to have babies.
